Happy Halloween!

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore, While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. " 'Tis some visiter," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door —
Only this, and nothing more."

Okay so here is what has been going on recently. Last week Xander got put back in the hospital, boo, but now he is out, yay!

This week at school we decided to put on a mystery theatre for our students it was great fun. I was Cattie Adams, the Short Stump Saloon owner who had lost her husband four years ago when he went looking for gold and never came back. My students thought I was the murderer, they were wrong!

My dad's election is coming up and we are all ready for that to be over! We all know no matter what happens God is in control.

Today was not so good. Harley was not feeling well. He came up to the school with me so I could keep an eye on him to see if he got better. No luck. So I took him to the vet, he had some kidney stones! They were blocking important things and they had to catheter him. It was very tricky because his bladder was so full and could have busted. Thankfully that didn't happen. He now has to stay at the hospital and be monitored, probably until Monday. Then they will do a little surgery to remove the stones. :( boo

On a happier note, Texas Tech is now 8-0. This weekend we play Texas University. I think we will win. If we don't I will probably be eating crow when I get back to school because the majority of my students are Texas fans!!! Wreck em' Tech!

I decided a couple of nights ago to carve some pumpkins. They are the ones you see in the picture. I especially like the double t. Maybe I am a little partial. I guess that is all for now.

Peace out.

What a week!

"Well the names have all changed since you hung around, But those dreams have remained and they're turned around. Welcome back welcome back welcome back." That is right school is back in session! I had a wonderful first week! We did introductions and dove right into divided quotes, hyphens, and our part of speech of the week, nouns. I have successfully gotten back in to the groove of things.

Also this week little Xander will be going in for a little surgery, Marsha thinks they will be there about 10 days. The actual surgery is on Friday, so keep their family in your prayers. He is having a tube put into his stomach to help him eat more comfortably. Due to their little hospital stay, this week I have a little visitor! His name is Amos. He is the one in the picture with Xander. A cute little Cavachon puppy given to Marsha and the Fam by someone who read her story.

One more thing I did this weekend was take some cute pictures of Ty Foster, Marsha's nephew. He is the cutie in the other pictures.
Of course I did keep up with my team! They were not on T.V. but Texas Tech did defeat Eastern Washington 46-24. Graham Harrell threw for 536 yards! Critics said this was a mid-season level team playing this game! On a sad note Danny Amendolea got cut from the Cowboys, :( oh well we still have one Tech grad there.

Well I am off to plan this week of school. I will be teaching about the 60's!! Viet Nam, hippies, the draft, drugs, and civil rights. All to tie into our book That was Then This is Now, by S.E. Hinton.

Have a week full of abundant blessings!!

Thank You Heroes

We had a solider send off in Wylie today. While we were awaiting the troops to pass by I was thinking of all the times I have seen soldiers in a parade, troops marching up the streets in the news, young men and women in army trucks smiling and waving, and that is what I expected to see this morning. But, this was no parade. These were American soldiers, who said goodbye to their families, loaded up on these very buses, on their way to the airport, to get on a plane and serve their country. These are men and women who woke up in their beds this morning and will not awake in there own homes, near their families, for many months. What amazing people. What heroes.

If ever there was a time for a prayer to be heard. And now is the time, to hear every word. Now that our boys called soldiers have gone, Please march with them and keep them strong. Stand beside them if they have to fight, And in the darkness be their light. Don’t desert them, march in their faith, So they’ll be here when the morning breaks. Bring them home safe and sound, Across the waters to peaceful ground. Home to loved ones, mother’s wives, daughters, sons,Bless them all, each and every one. They stand for freedom and make our flag true,These boys called soldiers for the red, white and blue. A prayer for a soldier, please let it be heard, And please Lord, hear every word. A prayer for a soldier, with the job to be done, Please bring them home, these soldiers your sons. Please bring them home, the soldiers, your sons.

AMEN.

Today...or yesterday now I guess!

Today was an awesome day! I started off with a little sleeping in (I am going to start to conquer that now to get back in the swing of waking up early for school!)

Then off to the gym for a little workout. After that I had to quickly shower to make my hair appointment!! Yes I cut it shorter!! I love it! Pictures to come later because I don't feel like digging out my camera right now.

After that I had a little visit with my friend and saw her beautiful baby boy Xander! From there I jetted off to lower greenville to catch one of my favorite bands (introduced to me by Trish) Tilly and the Wall. They tap dance!! They totally rocked! I love love love live music!

Bombs Bursting

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!!

SO..the United States used to belong to England, and follow the rule of a king, until a tea party and a massacre changed our destiny. Then GW (not Bush) took charge of the continental army and fought fervently for eight years. In the meantime, a war of words was being waged in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, something we like to call The Declaration of Independence was created.

John Adams, a lawyer, the first Vice President and the Second President of the United States, was one of the members who signed the Declaration of Independence. He wrote to his wife, "I believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival... it ought to be celebrated by pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other..."
Let the festivities begin! I started last night with an awesome fireworks show (pictures above) put on by the city of Wylie. I expect pomp and parade, shows, bells, and more illuminations tomorrow!

Also, and most importantly, a beautiful lady (also pictured above, about to be attacked by dinosaurs apparently) was born on this day 83 years ago! HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA!!!! LOVE YOU!!

Here is an example of some work I did for a friend. It was of her beautiful kids for her husband for father's day!
Also I bought a new lawn mower...in my quest to be just a little bit green (and to not have to buy gas for a lawn mower) I bought one without a motor!!

It is time for some fireworks!! Happy Fourth Everybody!

Summer

Everytime I post on here I tell myself that I am going to keep up with it from now on. We will see if I really listen to myself this time. Summer is going well so far. I feel like I have been very busy. My friend Marsha is back in the hospital with her baby, he had the second open heart surgery of his life, and is recovering well! I have been out to Children's Medical center a lot lately visiting. I helped redo a bathroom for a friend, and did some painting with my sister at her awesome new house!! My yard has been transformed from this ugly mass of mud to beautiful grass and flowerbeds! Yesterday I created another flowerbed and planted two big plants. One Hydrangia, and one Hibiscus. We will see if they last. Also this week I am teaching 4 year olds at Vacation Bible School. We had a lot of fun this morning and 3 more days of it to come! This Saturday I am going to my Cousin's house to take some pictures of a big party he has planned for his mom. It is the second of my photography gigs this summer! I remember summer as lounging around, having fun, and sometimes being bored. These days that is not the case. I feel motiviated to find as many things to do as possible, and there seem to be plenty of things around!! So for me summer is not "off time" it is "do anything you WANT to do time" and I am liking this!

Crazy Days

Well it has been a crazy week! Last Sunday at 11:02 a.m. my best friends Marsha and Ryan had their Son Xander Thomas Wade! Shortly after we found out that he has a problem with his heart. He is now getting ready to undergo open heart surgery on Monday morning at 6 a.m. Xander is very strong and is eating from a bottle and breating room air (not on a ventalator) The doctors are going to go in and put a tiny peice of plastic to re-route the blood and then 2 other surgerys will come later. Hopefully he will recover quickly and be at his house in 10 days!!! Keep them all in your prayers!!

Spring Break!

It is that wonderful time of year we like to call SPRING BREAK!!! To most people who have earned a degree and moved on past their school days these are just a memory of travel, parties, days off and fun times. But for educators the break lives on! I started my week off by doing a little yard work and then diving into a book. This is one of those books that you just can't put down, I was warned by the many teachers that I should be ready for some late nights. The book is called Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer. It is a love story with a Vampire twist. It sounded a little weird but I gave a chance. Those many teachers who warned me that it was going to keep me up, because I will just have to know what is going to happen next, were right. Another warning they threw out there for me was that I should have the second book in the series right there waiting for me when I finished the first. To this warning I did not heed, but after finishing the first book in two days I wish that I did! Let us just say that I will be shopping for New Moon tomorrow!! I got so caught up in the story today that I have a very bad sun burn from not paying attention to the time I was out in the sunlight. Off to apply Aloe!

Today......

I got some beautiful flowers from my Sister and Bro-in law and their family! My table will be decorated with beauty now for my quarter of century birthday! I took some pictures but for some reason Blog isn't working right now for me to post them. This week was CRAZY! We had the TAKS test on Wednesday and my students sound pretty confident that they did ok. We won't find out until after spring break how they did. We also had some crazy snow! I built a little snowman for my students to say good luck on the TAKS but again I can't post that picture, but I will come back later and put it up for all to see. Another thing I did last week was join a gym! I am excited to get back into the routine of exercising. It was a great deal and it has 24 hour access and all of the machines that I like. Plus it is only a few blocks from my house so no excuses! Everything is going great here I still love my job and know it is what I am meant to do! Hope all is well where you are!
